If you’re looking for a capable GPU, however, you’re not willing to spend a small fortune on the ones released more recently, considering the GTX 1660 for your next acquisition can prove to be an excellent idea. There are multiple aspects about the gaming performance and the visual quality offered by this graphics card that puts it right up there with competitors that are far better equipped. So, if you were already exploring the idea of getting the GTX 16660 Super Gaming OC GPU, we decided to put together a thorough review that should help you decide if this graphics card is going to be a good fit for the gaming computer you’re building. Of course, you won’t be needing this GPU to play games like Kostenfreie spiele, however, it’s good to know you have a graphics card that can pack a punch if needed.
Perfect Balance Between Gaming Performance and Budget
The GTX 1660 Super Gaming OC comes with a triple fan cooler and can go as high as 1860 MHz when boosted to the max. However, will this be enough for the pretentious gamers? Considering that this is basically a TY116 equipped with 1,408 processors, it sure doesn’t look like being capable of delivering the top performance required by the latest games. However, you have to make sure you don’t forget this is a SUPER edition which means is equipped with a GDDR 6 memory card which is, indeed faster, however, it’s still a GTX 16660 down to its core. Besides the ability to tweak its main clock, this GPU runs at a steady 1530 MHz and that’s not bad at all for a graphics card in this category.
GTX, not RTX
Continuing the Gaming OC review, we couldn’t help but notice that this graphics card didn’t get any of the DLSS or DX-R features. And while it’s not exactly rocket science to understand why this step hasn’t been made – price control – it still doesn’t compensate for the lack of Tensor and RT cores on the GPU. Of course, we established right from the beginning that we’re not dealing with a higher-end GPU here and that’s the main reason why this is an affordable solution for those that are willing to compromise. However, are there better alternatives out there?
Considering that this is basically a return to the original shader design model, it’s still a better choice than the GTX 1660 and the 1660 Ti. While the non-Ti version comes with 6GB and 3GB configurations, we would never advise for a 3GB GPU. So, from this point of view the Super Gaming OC makes the difference with the memory subsystem boosted to GDDR6 at 14 Gb/s.
Awesome Cooling and Acoustic Levels
For the readers going through this Super Gaming OC review thinking we were a bit too harsh on it, that’s what a review should be all about. After all, it should help you decide if a certain object is worth buying and if it can meet your expectations. And while we didn’t focus just on the positive things about the Super Gaming OC, we noticed plenty of its pros as well. And we’re continuing to do so by observing the very efficient cooling system with the three fans and the way these are tuned to perfection so that the GPU doesn’t can barely be heard even in the quietest of moments.
Delivering a HDMI port and no less than 3 Display Ports, the Super Gaming OC doesn’t come with a DVI or USB connector so it’s something for nothing in that area. Of course, considering the price tag on this GPU, we are pleased to see the connection methods it offers and we can conclude that it’s well worth the money you spend on it.
Of course, every gamer out there has an opinion on what a GPU should deliver. And while we all want to get the most expensive graphics card, that’s not always an option. So, we ask you to share your opinion on the Super Gaming OC GPU and how content are you with what it can deliver.
