IVF works on a strict timeline, and it’s majorly up to the team of embryologists to conduct the entire process with utmost precision. Helping thousands of patients in regaining their fertility through egg freezing and IVF is for what embryologistsGoral Gandhi work day and night inside an assisted fertility lab.

Dr Goral Gandhi a, has been a prominent specialist in providing infertility services, including IVF, in dedicated clinics that are more personal, higher in quality and data-driven. Talking about how the field has advanced, but still its full potential needs to be realized, Dr. Goral Gandhi tells us about working behind the scenes and how important are embryologists to the entire process of IVF.

Embryologists work in a laboratory setting, doing the main work of collecting eggs and semen samples, assessing and fertilizing theses gametes, creating embryos, and other very detailed procedures. As every stage in IVF requires detailed and accurate inputs, embryologists need to show remarkable coordination during the entire treatment process,” says the doctor.

On been asked about who qualifies to be working as a clinical embryologist, Dr. Goral Gandhi tells us that Embryologists are extensively-trained professionals with credible experience in assisted reproduction technologies.

“These qualified professionals are in charge of the routine maintenance of the fertility laboratory and patient material handling and processing for IUI, IVF and ICSI, embryo culture, embryo freezing, egg freezing, genetic analyses and PGD, among other related tasks. These also include a strict and exhaustive record of the procedures for safety purposes.”

Having trained more than 300 embryologists who now practice independently, Goral Gandhi is developing new methodologies and imparts education in the field of embryology to professionals, increasing their knowledge and technical skills to perform ART-related procedures. She believes in further sharing her passion for delivering fertility in a more caring and transparent way through training more expert embryologists.

According to Goral Gandhi, embryology is a rapidly advancing science as all the big break-throughs in IVF, like ICSI, Vitrification and Pre-implantation Genetic Testing (PGT)  in the last 2 decades have happened in the lab and not on the clinical side. “These are indeed very exciting times to be in the IVF lab,” she says.
